Let’s talk technical questions
In this session we’ll look at some technical questions that have come to my attention through email, phone, conversations, YouTube and more. We’ll hit as many as we can during our time together and these are all available at any time on my YouTube channel after the fact.
Questions on the Table
This question came to me through email. The individual asked for the math on how three phase currents add up to zero in the neutral. So we’ll explore some complex math with angles. We call it complex variables.
Good mornig Tom, Hope all is well with you and family? I know you’re a busy guy and I will be brief. I have a contractor that experienced an interesting issue with a 170 AMP branch breaker feeding a PV inverter. The AFC ratings were calculated to be below 65K . The OC device and the inverter were rated above the max AFC at the transformer. A fault occurred at the inverter and the OC device opened, as is should. However the breaker shows signs of carbon dust in the vent ports. Would this be normal and the OC device is ok to put back in service? Did the OC device fail and should be replaced and sent back to the manufacturer as defective? Just looking for your thoughts. Thanks for you time. Also, you are doing a great job of YouTube in you presentations. Keep up the great work!
